Dust off your capri pants, because apparently they are back in fashion?

Every day, a fresh fashion trend emerges. Some might gain a lot of popularity, and some might just get so much criticism. One of those trends has made its comeback: capri pants. Yes! They are back in fashion.

Like any other fashion trend, capri pants have evolved and made their comeback. Cargo pants, palazzo pants, skinny jeans, and low-rise denim were never accepted by the fashion world, even though they have multiple opinions. Likewise, the trend of wearing capri pants has subjective perspectives.

Capri pants made their debut in the late 1940s in Germany, a time when women were exploring new clothing styles beyond skirts and dresses. The designs were practical, sexy, and bold, setting the stage for the evolved designs we see today.

In the early 2000s, the trend returned loudly and stayed for a while. These versatile pants came in various styles and fabrics, perfectly blending casual and edgy elements. We cannot deny that capri pants were a fashion staple; we have seen celebrities pull off capri pants looks from significant events to movie premieres. In 2005, Rihanna donned denim capri pants at a launch event, while Jennifer Lopez showcased them at her runway show.

Capri pants have been making a stylish comeback, and we can't help but notice the influence of fashion icons like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid. Gigi, for instance, was recently seen rocking capri pants at a friend's birthday in NYC, setting a new trend. Kendall, on the other hand, showed us how to pair capri leggings with a 90s bra and ballet pumps, creating a chic and cozy look.

Luxury designers are promoting a modern, elevated take on capri pants. In New York, Tory Burch introduced flared grey capris paired with a matching blazer and trendy brooch. Ferragamo showcased a sleek black version in Italy with a coordinating zip-up turtleneck. Towards the end of the month in Paris, Coperni also presented black capris styled with a pinstriped blue and white button-down and a structured blazer. In the spring 2024 season, 16Arlington matched the cropped design with a feminine jacket, and Coperni gave business attire a modern spin. For the fall 2024 collections, Knwls featured a cream pair styled with an off-the-shoulder knit sweater, while Rotate went bold with red capris, perfect for holiday parties when paired with a glamorous fluffy jacket.

So, we are well aware now that this trend has revived. Let's see if it has any potential to stay longer or fade away quickly and come back in the next five years with great evolution.
